Our story began over thirty-five years ago.

As a testament to our farming roots, we were granted with a National Trust tenancy at a small stock rearing farm located centrally in a rural village surrounded by cottages. The farm happened to be Hill Top Farm, Near Sawrey.

As a tenant the farm comes with responsibility three hundred and sixty-five days of the year, working with the land not against - maintaining, conserving and sustaining as if it were your own.

We came with a flock of Herdwicks ~ ewes not recognised by rosettes and trophies but ewes of working-class standard with bloodlines.

Bloodlines from farms directly and indirectly associated with Mrs Heelis and have particular significance as Hill Top Herdwick of Sawrey.

We are proud to say the farm remains fully working and real, operating directly next door to the iconic bolthole that continues to attract and inspire thousands of visitors each year.
